ANWA Anthologies
Submission Call!
The 2024 ANWA anthology will be a collection of 1700-1910s era historical fiction story that can stand on its own.
Theme: Above, Below, and Beyond the Sea
Proceeds go toward scholarships for the annual conference.
Requirements

Authored by a current ANWA member

Word count: 2,500 to 10,000 words

A Historical Fiction short story that can stand on its own
- Never before published story / original material with the theme.
- Audience range: Adult
- It will be exclusive to ANWA for six months from the date of publication

ANWA appropriate” – Meaning, no graphic violence, sex, or blatant swearing. If these are present, they will either be removed at the editor’s discretion, or the story will be denied acceptance.

Type: 12 point, Times New Roman, Double Spaced

Multiple submissions are allowed, although only one will be accepted for publication. Multiple submissions should be sent in separate emails.
Publishing Details
Authors of published articles or stories must be willing to sign a contract that gives ANWA exclusive rights to publish for six (6) months from date of publication.
No royalties are paid to authors of published articles as the profits are used for scholarships for ANWA members to attend ANWA events. Authors of published articles or stories receive a free hard copy of the published book as compensation.
The anthology is expected to be offered as hard copy and ebook on Amazon.

Deadlines
We can’t wait to see what inspirational stories you have to share. Our goal is to have the book available for purchase at the 2022 ANWA conference. If you are interested in contributing, our deadline schedule is as follows:

January – March, 2024 – Theme announced. Monthly reminders on our Facebook page to be working on those stories!

April 1, 2024 – All story submissions are due.

May 1, 2024 – Authors of accepted submissions will be notified.

July 15, 2024 – Editing process completed.
- July 2024 – Title finalized and cover revealed.

August 2024 – Typesetting process completed and files uploaded for publication.

September 2024 – Anthology available for sale.
Again, submissions are due by April 1st. Those accepted for publication will be notified by May 1st.
